After a gracious and kind send off from Majors Ian and Pam McCredie of the Wrexham Corps, the band journeyed on to Birmingham. Upon arriving the band was welcomed by members of the Birmingham Citadel Band and Majors Stephen and Amanda White. After a great lunch we walked to the center of Birmingham to  the cathedral grounds and performed an outdoor concert for 600-700 hundred people enjoying their lunch on a bright and sunny day. The band played a variety of music including crowd favorites Breezin Down Broadway, All You Need is Love, and Stars and Stripes Forever.

After the concert we enjoyed an invigorating and informative meeting with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.  A brief tour of the city hall was also enjoyed completed by learning the history of the Cadbury family (yes, the Cadbury chocolate).

After a brief time to relax, once again it was time to eat dinner that was beautifully prepared by members of the corps.

The highlights of our concert included the playing of Gabriel’s Oboe by Chris and Tim Ward, and cornet solo When Morning Gilds the Sky by Derek Lance.  Definite crowd favorites were Bob Jones and his drum solo in La Fiesta and the spine chilling rendition of The Power and Glory.

All in all it was another day filled with many blessings.
