For the first ministry weekend of the 2017/18 season the New York Staff Band visited the Southern New England Division. The first engagement was at the Manchester Corps for Music Councils. There were several classes offered throughout the day that were led by NYSB bands-people including a chance for some of the delegates to play side-by-side with the NYSB. The day culminated with a concert at the Immanuel Congregation Church in Hartford.

Sunday morning the band split up and went to four different corps across the SNE Division (Bristol, Hartford, Meriden, New Britain Corps) to lead worship.  Each corps provided lunch and then it was back to Manchester Corps for a mini-concert and divisional ingathering for World missions.

On Wednesday, October 25, the band played a concert at the National Divisional Music Directors Conference which was being held at Star Lake Camp. This was the first time all of the Music Directors in North America gathered together in this way.

After the concert, the band had rehearsal and were privileged to have some special guests lead a few items: Craig Lewis (TMS, Canada Bermuda Territory) “The Canadian” by James Merritt. Jonathan W. Corry (DMD, Chicago Metropolitan) “Renaissance” by Peter Graham. Harold Burgmayer (TMS, Central Territory) led two items: “Jubilee” Paul Drury, and Band Chorus “Jesus Paid it All”. Each guest brought excellent insight into each piece they led.

In November the band will visit Canada, with stops in London, Oshawa, and Toronto.
