Hendon Highlights 2010

The New York Staff Band has recently returned from a long weekend in London at the invitation of Hendon Band to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hendon Highlights as well as the 125th anniversary of the Hendon Band. Christmas in Brass

Christmas in Brass is the title of a new piece by Gavin Whitehouse premiered by the New York Staff Band and the young musicians of the Times Square Corps during the recent Sunday afternoon Christmas concert. Another first for the NYSB was a joint concert on the Saturday afternoon with the Manhattan School of Music Symphonic Brass Orchestra led by Mark Gould (2nd from left). NYSB Meets World Series Hero

Among the honorees for the 2009 Salvation Army Greater New York Association Annual Luncheon was New York Yankee star pitcher Andy Pettitte. The band provided music for the event and Mr. Pettitte was gracious enough to make time to meet the band and pause for this photo opportunity.
From Kettle Kick-Off to
125th Anniversary Celebration

The New York Staff Band enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Submarine Force Museum and tour the USS Nautilus in New London, CT, while there to help the corps celebrate their 125th Anniversary. The weekend began in Greater New York with the Kettle Kick-Off and ended with a worship service at the Hartford Citadel Corps. Click here to read the weekend report.
Future All-Star Weekend 2010

The New York Staff Band's 7th annual Future All-Star Weekend will be held on March 19-21, 2010 and is available to brass players ages of 13-18. Visit the Future All-Star page for the details of the weekend and for application and audition information.

Major Thomas Mack
The New York Staff Band bid farewell to Major Thomas Mack who retired after nearly 40 years of service, most recently as Executive Officer. He has retired to the New York area so we'll look forward to seeing him from time to time at various events. Please join us in wishing him well as he enters this new phase in his life and ministry.

Lt. Colonel Kenneth W. Maynor
The New York Staff Band is pleased to announce that Lt. Colonel Kenneth W. Maynor has been appointed as the Executive Officer of the band. "I am humbled and honored to serve as the Executive Officer of the New York Staff Band. I am looking forward to sharing in ministry and fellowship with this premier music force for the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ."
